In traditional African culture, the circle symbolizes the immortal and eternal part. It is the primal source of energy and wisdom. The circle is thus an image of the Supreme Being. The association of God with the circle (or vice versa) explains why many ceremonies, rituals, buildings in traditional African culture follow the shape of a circle.

The colours of the pieces are symbolic and have important meanings understood by the tribe. Red – stands for bravery and unity, Yellow and Orange – symbolizes hospitality, White – represents peace, purity, and health, Green – symbolizes health and land, Black – represents the people and the struggles they must endure.
